WHAT: Meeting as part of the “Open School of Botany and Environment” – for the 250th anniversary of the Botanical Garden of Pavia.

A lesson in the form of a dialogue/interview, with the opportunity for audience involvement, to analyze and discuss together the concepts of habitat and ecological restoration, central to current biodiversity and nature conservation activities and policies.

The text provided introduces two key individuals involved in the event:

Silvia Assini is an Associate Professor of Environmental and Applied Botany at the University of Pavia. Her research primarily focuses on vegetation studies, biodiversity management and conservation, and the restoration of degraded habitats and ecosystems. She is the Scientific Director of the Life Drylands project.

Serena Dorigotti has a degree in Natural Sciences and is an expert on public engagement. She has had a long-standing collaboration with MUSE in Trento. In 2021, she won the Marsh Award from the BGCI (Botanic Gardens Conservation International) for her work in Botanical Garden Education.
